Since 2006, the Mahtomedi Garden Club has offered grants for garden-related projects in public areas of
Mahtomedi, Willernie and adjacent communities.
These funds are available because of generous member and community support of our annual
Plant Sale, Garden Tour and February Outreach Events.
Mahtomedi Community Education received a grant of $500 to correct soil issues in the Community Gardens behind the District Education Center. The grant will be used to pay for soil testing, soil amendments and to develop a replacement for the wood mulch on the walkways between the gardens.
A grant of $750 was given to OH Anderson Elementary School in Mahtomedi for tools to start a student garden club and plants to beautify an area in front of the school near a dry riverbed created by students based on the book “Only One You” by Linda Kranz.
White Bear Lake Area Historical Society received a grant of $904 to purchase plants for landscaping to be installed after the renovation of the historic Geist Gazebo in Matoska Park on White Bear Lake.
The Lakeshore Park/ Summit Lane Neighbors group in White Bear Township was given a grant of $350 to purchase plants for a beautification project along a trail that provides public access to White Bear Lake from South Shore Blvd. along the path of the future Lake Links Trail.
